Visa Expands Blockchain Lending Data to Fuel Stablecoin-Linked Card Boom
Visa is expanding its data offering for blockchain lenders as demand for stablecoin-linked cards surges, says Cuy Sheffield, head of crypto at Visa.
The payments giant will pair its settlement data with onchain lending infrastructure to give lenders greater insight into the financial performance of digital asset-focused fintech firms and card issuers.
This move aims to speed up borrowing for these businesses as they grow rapidly. The company currently operates over 160 stablecoin-linked card programs, a nearly 200% increase year-over-year.
Sheffield said there are new issuers joining the network every week, including stablecoin neobanks and fintech firms launching cards. To meet demand and provide financing opportunities for these businesses, Visa is establishing partnerships to enable access to smart contracts and onchain credit.
