Visa Extends TIFF Partnership for Nearly Three Decades
Visa Canada has renewed its partnership with the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF), extending its role as a festival sponsor until at least 2027. This marks nearly three decades of collaboration between the payment company and TIFF, one of the world's most influential film festivals.
The multi-year renewal includes Visa's continued provision of cardholder benefits such as early ticket access, priority lines, and lounges at screening venues. The partnership also encompasses the Visa Sharing the Screen program, which will distribute 500 complimentary tickets in September and feature a talk with director Rebeca Huntt and soccer player Megan Rapinoe.
According to Visa's transaction data from the 2025 festival, local small business spending increased by 10% year-over-year within the festival zone. Foreign visitor spending rose 15% from the prior year, accounting for 20% of local commerce during the event. The number of small businesses in the festival area expanded by 30% since 2022.
Visa's President and Country Manager, Michiel Wielhouwer, highlighted the company's long-standing partnership with TIFF, stating, 'For nearly three decades, Visa has been proud to partner with TIFF.' Cameron Bailey, CEO of TIFF, echoed this sentiment, noting that Visa's support enables the creation of experiences that bring audiences closer to films and artists.
