Visa Inc (NYSE: V) has entered into a strategic collaboration with the International Finance Corporation (IFC) to develop digital financial services in emerging markets. The partnership will launch a risk-sharing program, allowing IFC to absorb credit settlement risks associated with Visa transactions conducted by under-investment grade financial institutions.
The risk-sharing program aims to bolster financial inclusion by mitigating credit settlement risks for participating financial institutions in developing regions. This initiative is expected to expand digital payment solutions to underbanked consumers and small businesses in 14 countries across Latin America and the Caribbean.
