Visa Sees Steady Growth in Payments, Expands into Software and Identity
Visa CEO Ryan McInerney spoke at the Goldman Sachs Communacopia + Technology Conference 2026, outlining the company's growth beyond payments. The company has seen strong U.S. spending, with growth at 10% in the latest quarter and 9% through August.
Value-added services (VaaS) have become a major growth engine for Visa, representing about 30% of net revenue and growing 34% in the latest quarter. The segment includes benefits such as lounge access, travel perks, and subscription offers for cardholders, as well as tokens that can be used globally as a distribution layer for risk, identity, and transaction services.
Visa is also investing in artificial intelligence (AI), which has improved internal productivity by 80% more code commits and 65% faster feature development. The company is using efficiency gains to fund growth and is building trust tools for agentic commerce, stablecoin infrastructure, and cybersecurity products.
