Visa Snaps Up BioCatch for $2.4 Billion Amid AI-Powered Scam Surge
Visa is buying cybersecurity firm BioCatch for $2.4 billion in cash to expand its push into fraud detection as AI-powered scams surge.
The acquisition of BioCatch's behavioral biometrics platform will help Visa analyze data such as keystroke timing and touch screen pressure to distinguish real users from scammers and bots.
Visa estimates that scams and account takeovers cost the global economy over $1 trillion annually, with AI making attacks cheaper, faster, and more convincing.
Under the deal, Visa will get BioCatch's platform, which currently protects 760 million users across roughly 350 banks.
