Visa's $2.4 Billion Acquisition Sets Stage for AI-Powered Payments
Visa has made a major move in the payments industry by acquiring fraud prevention specialist BioCatch for approximately $2.4 billion, marking one of the most significant fintech transactions this year.
The acquisition reflects the growing importance of artificial intelligence (AI) in protecting digital commerce and strengthening the security of billions of transactions at a time when online fraud is becoming increasingly sophisticated.
BioCatch has developed behavioural biometrics technology that analyses how users interact with their devices, studying hundreds of indicators such as typing rhythm, mouse movements, and touchscreen gestures to determine whether the person using the account is the legitimate customer.
Visa believes combining BioCatch's behavioural intelligence with its global payment network will significantly strengthen fraud detection while improving the customer experience.
