Vivo Phones May Get Scam-Detecting AI Feature Next
The Scam Detection feature, which uses on-device AI to detect potential scammers during phone calls, may soon be available on vivo phones. This would make vivo the third Android phone maker to offer this technology after Google and Samsung.
A teardown of the Phone by Google app revealed evidence that vivo could be next in line to support Scam Detection functionality. The feature is also known as 'Sharpie' internally, which further supports this theory.
There's no word on which vivo devices will support this functionality or when it might arrive, but it's possible that the company could debut this option on the rumored vivo X500 series.
The Scam Detection feature uses on-device AI to monitor for patterns associated with scammers during phone calls. If a caller asks for payment via gift cards, for example, the feature will display a pop-up warning along with audio and haptic alerts.
