Voice AI, Smart Glasses, and the Quiet Revolution in Workplace Tech

Google has introduced new voice AI features in its Workspace apps, including Gmail, Docs, and Keep. These capabilities allow users to retrieve information, draft documents, and capture notes using conversation rather than typing.

The new features include Gemini Audio, which enables users to ask questions like 'What's my flight's gate number?' to find details buried in their inbox. Docs Live lets employees talk through an idea and build a structured document in real time, while Keep Live turns spoken 'brain dumps' into organised, actionable notes.

HTC has also launched its VIVE Eagle smart glasses, which feature privacy controls that allow bystanders to say 'stop recording' to end an active recording. The hardware also stops recording when removed and disables the camera if the recording indicator is covered.

Meanwhile, a recent CBRE survey found that 89% of office-using organisations now require at least three in-office days each week, with 64% of technology companies planning to grow their office footprint. However, only 14% of companies are making major improvements to their space, highlighting the need for better sound management and acoustic zoning.
