Wall Street Endorses Nvidia's $500 Billion AI Financing Plan
Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang has revealed his plan for the next phase of financing in the AI industry, backed by Wall Street's top power brokers. The plan, which he calls a 'big concept', aims to raise $500 billion and potentially more from institutional investors to fund the construction and buildout of new AI factories.
Huang was joined by leaders from Goldman Sachs, BlackRock, Blackstone, KKR, Apollo, and Brookfield, who agreed that AI infrastructure has become a new asset class. They see it as a revenue-generating asset with real value, similar to PCs or phones, but more valuable due to its long lifespan and flexibility.
The companies will raise funds from their institutional investors to fund the buildout of data centers and the development of new AI models. This marks a shift in the tech industry, where companies are no longer relying solely on equity and debt to finance their operations. Instead, they are turning to asset-based financing, which could lead to more favorable interest rates for borrowers.
The financiers acknowledged that there is some risk involved, but they believe that the number of participants in the project alleviates concentration concerns. They also see this as an opportunity for financial engineering and a way to create new revenue streams.
