Wall Street Surges to New Records Amid AI Boom
The US stock market reached new records on Tuesday, despite concerns about high inflation and the ongoing war in Iran. The S&P 500 index shot up 1.8%, topping its prior all-time high set a couple months ago, while the Dow Jones Industrial Average added 907 points to its record set the day before.
The rally was led by companies such as Palantir Technologies and Caterpillar, which reported stronger profits and revenue than analysts expected. Palantir's CEO Alex Karp said his company's overall revenue leaped 93% in what he called an 'otherworldly' quarter.
Analysts warn that the market may be due for a correction, but for now, stocks don't look as expensive as they did before, according to Phil Segner of the Leuthold Group. The drop in oil prices also helped ease worries about inflation, pulling down yields in the bond market and relaxing pressure on the overall economy.
