Wall Street Ticks Higher on Mideast Deal Hopes
U.S. stock indexes opened higher on Monday as hopes for de-escalating tensions in the Middle East weighed on crude oil prices.
Investors were preparing for a packed week of earnings and economic data releases, which may provide further direction to markets.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 274 points, or 0.52%, to 52,759.06 at the open, while the S&P 500 increased by 15.1 points, or 0.2%, to 7,504.78 and the Nasdaq Composite gained 78.8 points, or 0.31%, to 25,452.66.
Amazon.com rose 3.8% and surpassed $3 trillion in market value for the first time.
