Walmart Dominates North Texas Retail Market with Over 4 Million Square Feet
The largest retail property owners in North Texas have been revealed, with Walmart leading the pack. According to a recent report, the top 50 companies own over 130.9 million square feet of retail space in the region.
The rankings were determined by rentable square footage owned in 2026, and Walmart tops the list with 4.3 million square feet, accounting for 35.2% of its total buildings owned. This is followed closely by Target, which owns 6.8 million square feet, or 41.5% of its total buildings.
The report also highlights Home Depot and Simon Property Group as significant players in the North Texas retail market. Home Depot owns 7.7 million square feet, while Simon Property Group owns 5.6 million square feet. These companies have a combined market share of over 25%.
