Walmart (WMT) is expanding its contactless payment options to make shopping easier and faster for customers. Starting next week, select Walmart and Sam's Club locations will offer Google Pay as a tap-to-pay option.

This move comes after Alphabet Inc. (GOOG, GOOGL) announced that tap-to-pay using Google Pay would be available at these stores and Sam's Club locations in the U.S. The expansion is expected to continue through 2026, with all U.S. stores offering contactless payments by the end of next year.

Walmart has been a notable holdout for Apple Inc.'s (AAPL) Apple Pay, which will also reportedly be among the available payment options, according to Bloomberg. The retailer's proprietary Walmart Pay system will still be available through its app, along with cash and credit card payments.
