Walmart Finally Ditches QR Codes for Nationwide Tap-to-Pay Rollout
Walmart has finally rolled out tap-to-pay technology across its U.S. stores and Sam's Club locations, allowing customers to use Apple Pay, Google Pay, and other digital payment methods for contactless checkout.
The rollout began on August 24, 2026, at select stores and will expand to all locations by the end of the year. This move brings Walmart in line with many other major retailers that already offer tap-to-pay technology.
Walmart Pay is still available for customers who prefer it, but now they also have the option to use Apple Pay, Google Pay, or other digital wallets for contactless payments.
