Walmart Launches Scenario Fashion Brand Amid Slowing Sales
Walmart is launching Scenario, a new fashion brand targeting Gen Z and millennials to boost discretionary sales. The sub-$25 apparel and accessories line aims to keep more fashion purchases within Walmart's ecosystem rather than losing them to rivals like Amazon.
The move comes as Walmart seeks stronger discretionary categories amid slower store traffic and growing competition in online fashion. Despite a 5.9% increase in total revenue during its fiscal second quarter, physical-store traffic has become a key investor focus.
Walmart's stock is heading for its fourth straight month of losses, having declined nearly 7% year to date. Analysts at Deutsche Bank and DA Davidson trimmed their price targets while maintaining their respective 'Hold' and 'Buy' ratings.
