Walmart Posts Strong Q2 CY2026 Results Despite Soft Guidance
Retail giant Walmart (NASDAQ:WMT) posted stronger-than-expected revenue in its second quarter CY2026, reaching $187.9 billion, a 5.9% year-on-year growth and beating analyst estimates by 0.6%. Non-GAAP profit came in at $0.81 per share, surpassing analysts' consensus estimates by 9.3%. However, the company's revenue guidance for the next quarter fell short of expectations, coming in 1.4% below analyst estimates.
Walmart's e-commerce growth exceeded 20% for the tenth consecutive quarter, supported by expansion of fast delivery and sub-30-minute fulfillment now available in 38 markets. Management emphasized that customers using fast delivery shop more frequently and are more likely to become Walmart+ members, deepening engagement and increasing average spend.
The company's Marketplace platform saw a 52% growth, while advertising revenue increased 38% globally, driven by Walmart Connect in the US and Flipkart ads internationally. CFO John David Rainey noted that 'advertising growth would need to outpace our e-commerce growth,' which is currently happening.
