Walmart and its subsidiary Sam's Club have announced that tap-to-pay options will be available in their stores. Starting on August 24, customers can use tap-to-pay at select locations, with a full rollout to all stores by the end of 2026. The option will also come to Walmart's fuel stations by mid-2027.

The new payment method will allow customers to pay using contactless methods like Apple Pay and Google Pay, as well as their own digital wallets. This is an expansion of the company's existing mobile payment app, which used QR codes for checkout.

Walmart has stated that it wants to give customers choice in how they pay, allowing them to check out in a way that works best for them. The company also mentioned that this will be especially convenient for Sam's Club shoppers, who can use the Scan & Go payment method to skip lines altogether.
