Walmart Rolls Out Tap-to-Pay Across US Stores
Walmart has launched its Tap-to-Pay service in select stores across the US, starting August 24, 2026. This rollout marks an effort to increase checkout convenience for customers, particularly with the inclusion of Google Pay.
The launch comes after Walmart's stock value dropped by around $90 billion during earnings week, a result of a less-than-expected 2.6% rise in US comparable sales.
As part of the rollout plan, every US store and club is expected to have Tap-to-Pay implemented by the end of 2026, with fuel stations at Walmart and Sam's Club set to follow by mid-2027.
