Walmart Sees New Investment from Perennial Investment Advisors LLC Amid E-Commerce Growth
Perennial Investment Advisors LLC has acquired a new stake in Walmart Inc. (NASDAQ:WMT), purchasing 20,689 shares of the retailer's stock valued at approximately $2,343,000.
This is not an isolated instance, as several other hedge funds and institutional investors have also made changes to their positions in Walmart during the second quarter. Permanens Capital L.P., for example, acquired a new stake worth $10,402,000, while Philadelphia Investment Partners LLC purchased 1,005,000 shares.
Walmart's recent fiscal second-quarter results show continued momentum beyond traditional store sales. The company reported revenue of approximately $187.9 billion, with global e-commerce growing 23% and advertising revenue increasing 38%. Analysts point to Walmart's expanding e-commerce, digital advertising, memberships, convenience-led fulfillment, automation, and AI initiatives as reasons the recent decline could represent a long-term buying opportunity.
However, not all news is positive. The company has settled a U.S. Justice Department lawsuit alleging that its pharmacies unlawfully contributed to the opioid epidemic, removing an overhang and reducing legal uncertainty for investors.
