Walmart Sees Surge in Institutional Investment Amid Strong Earnings
Osmosis Investment Management UK Ltd has acquired a significant stake in Walmart Inc. (NASDAQ: WMT) shares, purchasing 72,050 stocks valued at approximately $8,160,000. This is not an isolated move, as other institutional investors and hedge funds have also been buying into the company.
Sanctuary Advisors LLC, Covington Investment Advisors Inc., Barbara Oil Co., Saranac Partners Ltd, and Solstein Capital LLC have all acquired new positions in Walmart shares during the second quarter. This surge in investment could be a sign that investors are confident in Walmart's prospects, particularly given its strong earnings report.
Walmart's recent Q2 2027 earnings report showed revenue of approximately $187.9 billion, with global e-commerce increasing by 23% and advertising revenue surging by 38%. Analysts have been optimistic about the company's future growth potential, with a consensus price target of $131.88.
However, not all views are positive. Some analysts believe that Walmart may be fully valued after its roughly 127% five-year gain, and slower store-sales growth could limit further upside even if digital businesses remain strong.
