Walmart Stock: Retail Investors Flee, Financial Bloggers See Opportunity
Walmart's (WMT) stock price has been under pressure due to elevated inflation and deteriorating consumer confidence. Despite this, financial bloggers have turned increasingly bullish on the company, with a Bullish rating of 80% based on 40 opinions from platforms like Seeking Alpha, StockTwits, and Motley Fool.
This optimism stands in contrast to retail investor sentiment, which is classified as Very Negative according to TipRanks' Crowd Wisdom tool. Only 2.7% of the 874,393 tracked smart portfolios currently hold Walmart shares, representing a decline of 1.8% over the past 30 days and 0.5% over the last seven days.
The divergence in sentiment is particularly notable among younger investors, with portfolios managed by individuals under 35 years old seeing a 2.5% drop in Walmart holdings over the last 30 days. Wall Street analysts, however, remain firmly bullish on the company, expecting earnings per share of $0.74 for the second quarter and revenue of $186.73 billion.
