Walmart Stock Sees Shift in Investor Sentiment After Q2 Earnings Miss
Retail investors are returning to Walmart (WMT) stock after its disappointing Q2 earnings report, which sent the share price down 12% over the last three months and 7% in the year-to-date.
The main drag in recent weeks has been the company's U.S. same-store sales miss, but data from TipRanks' Crowd Wisdom tool shows that investor sentiment has shifted significantly since its Q2 earnings report.
According to Crowd Wisdom, the number of investors holding WMT stock in their portfolios has increased 1.6% over the last 30 days and a further 1.4% over the last week. This represents an above-sector-average Positive sentiment, compared to a Very Negative rating ahead of its Q2 earnings.
Looking ahead to Walmart's upcoming Q3 earnings report on November 19, Wall Street analysts expect EPS to come in at $0.64, up from $0.62 in the same period last year, and revenues are tipped to reach $187.29 billion, up from $179.4 billion.
