Walmart Tries Fashion with New Brand and $25 Price Point
Walmart is attempting to revamp its image as more than just a grocery store by launching a new women's fashion brand called Scenario. The retailer aims to attract younger shoppers with hundreds of affordable items, including blouses, denim shirts, bags, and accessories priced around $25.
The goal is to appeal to women aged 35 who are looking for stylish options beyond the essentials offered by Walmart's existing lines. By getting buyers in with low pricing, Walmart hopes to show that it can compete not only on price but also on style.
Walmart has struggled to make its stores and website competitive with Amazon and traditional clothing retailers. The company's comparable sales excluding fuel climbed 2.6% in the current quarter, below market estimates. This puts additional pressure on Walmart to find growth in areas other than food and household needs.
