Walt Disney World Under Heat Advisory as Temperatures Soar to 112 Degrees
A heat advisory remains in effect for Walt Disney World until 7pm on August 20th, as the National Weather Service warns of a heat index reaching 112 degrees. The advisory covers Orange, Osceola, Seminole, and Lake counties.
The heat index is a measure that combines temperature and humidity to estimate how hot it feels outside. In this case, the high temperatures in the mid-90s will be exacerbated by high humidity, making it feel like 112 degrees during peak afternoon hours.
The advisory window covers most of a typical park day, but Disney visitors can take steps to stay safe. This includes drinking water regularly, taking breaks in air conditioning or shade every couple of hours, and shifting strenuous activities away from the hottest part of the day.
