WA's Biggest Running Event Breaks Record with Over 35,000 Participants
On September 1, 2026, almost 35,000 West Australians gathered at Chevron City to Surf for genU in Perth. The event saw a record turnout, with registrations growing by over 20% year-on-year since the partnership began between Chevron and Seven West Media.
7NEWS Perth was the major media partner for the third consecutive year, supporting the event and raising vital funds for West Australians living with disability and disadvantage. Presenters Angela Tsun and Ryan Daniels took part alongside their families, while Samantha Jolly and Amelia Broun joined the 7NEWS team on the course.
According to Ryan Daniels, 'City to Surf is a great opportunity for the 7NEWS team to get out from behind the cameras and experience the day alongside the wider WA community.' Seven West Media's Chief Executive Officer, Maryna Fewster, expressed pride in the event's growth and the community spirit displayed by participants.
