Waymo Expands Autonomous Ride-Hailing Service to Valley Cities
Waymo has expanded its ride-hailing service to all riders in Phoenix, Los Angeles, and San Francisco. The company's next-generation Ojai vehicles are now available for public use, following a limited pilot program that began earlier this year.
The subsidiary of Alphabet Inc. (Nasdaq: GOOGL) announced the full rollout on Wednesday, stating that the autonomous cars are key to scaling its service to dozens of cities.
Waymo has been refining its Ojai experience based on feedback from early access riders in Phoenix who took free trips and provided valuable input. The company is now ready to begin commercial operations and open its wide elevator-like doors to all riders.
