Wear OS 7 Brings Real-Time Info and AI-Powered Assistance to Smartwatches
Google has released Wear OS 7, its most ambitious smartwatch update yet. The new version focuses on making smartwatches more useful throughout the day with real-time information, deeper device integration, AI-powered assistance, and longer battery life.
The headline feature in Wear OS 7 is Live Updates, which brings Android's real-time notification system directly to smartwatches. This means users can glance at their watch to track sports scores, food delivery status, ride-sharing progress, workout activity, and travel updates, without having to repeatedly open apps.
Wear OS 7 also enables better control over connected devices, allowing users to manage headphones and earbuds directly from their watch, control speakers and media playback, and switch audio outputs instantly using the new Media Output Switcher.
Later this year, select Wear OS 7 devices will receive Gemini Intelligence, Google's next-generation AI experience for wearables. This update will introduce several advanced capabilities, including creating custom watch dashboards using natural language commands and performing tasks across apps directly from the watch.
