WEBTOON Unveils Growth Plan, Sees Double-Digit Revenue Growth Ahead
WEBTOON, a technology and AI-driven storytelling platform, shared its growth plan at the Goldman Sachs Communacopia + Technology Conference 2026. The company remains on track to exit 2026 with double-digit constant currency revenue growth, despite a softer near-term outlook.
The core business of WEBTOON comes from micropayments, but management sees more room to grow advertising, animation, gaming, and other crossover IP. Korea is the most mature market, with about 50% household penetration, while Japan represents 45% of total revenue. The Rest of World markets have less than 5% penetration, but management sees this as the largest long-term opportunity.
WEBTOON is leaning heavily on AI, auto-translation, and interactive features to improve discovery, engagement, and creator tools. New partnerships with Disney, McDonald's, Lawson, Duolingo, and game developers are meant to broaden the company's reach and monetization.
