Wellington Management Group Boosts Stake in International Business Machines
Wellington Management Group LLP has significantly increased its stake in International Business Machines Corporation (IBM), purchasing 6,283,395 additional shares of the technology company's stock during the second quarter. This move represents a 2,362.2% increase in Wellington Management Group's position in IBM, bringing their total holdings to 6,549,393 shares.
The value of these shares is approximately $1,841,755,000 at the end of the most recent quarter, accounting for about 0.70% of International Business Machines' market capitalization. Other institutional investors have also added to or reduced their stakes in IBM, with Basepoint Wealth LLC and Portus Wealth Advisors LLC purchasing new positions in the company.
International Business Machines has been actively developing its presence in the field of quantum computing, partnering with Lockheed Martin on a Swiss quantum innovation hub project at ETH Zurich. This collaboration is part of Switzerland's defense-offset program and aims to establish a government-supported, multi-year deployment of IBM's Nighthawk r2 processor integrated with the Alps supercomputer.
