Wendy's Appoints McDonald's Veteran as Marketing Chief in Turnaround Push
The fast food giant Wendy's has announced significant changes to its leadership team, appointing Tariq Hassan as Chief Marketing and Customer Growth Officer. This move comes alongside the elimination of the U.S. President role in favor of a new Chief Operations Officer position.
Hassan's appointment is part of a five-point turnaround plan aimed at resetting Wendy's brand and customer proposition. The company aims to stabilize U.S. traffic, protect margins, and support its franchise base after years of weak returns.
The leadership overhaul also includes cutting the annual dividend to $0.28 per share, creating flexibility for turnaround investments. This shift in capital allocation underscores management's seriousness about the reset, with less cash allocated for marketing, digital, and store upgrades aimed at improving customer relevance.
