Westward Ho Refreshments Demolished to Make Way for Piston Peak National Park
The Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World has undergone significant changes in recent years, and the demolition of Westward Ho Refreshments is the latest landmark to meet its end. This rustic, wood-paneled kiosk was a staple of Frontierland's wooden boardwalks for decades, serving up mid-day treats to guests. However, as part of Disney's ambitious expansion project, Piston Peak National Park, the building has been completely demolished.
The demolition process began rapidly after Westward Ho closed its doors on June 21, 2026. Within weeks, construction walls had wrapped around the perimeter, blocking guest access and signaling a permanent closure. As of August 9, 2026, the entire structure, including its signature shingled roof and rustic Western façade, has been leveled and removed.
The cleared space now offers an unobstructed view over the construction walls and toward Big Thunder Mountain Railroad's towering peaks. Walt Disney World crews preserved a large, mature tree that stood beside the former snack stand, but the building itself is gone.
