Wichita IAM Members Vote for Boeing Master Agreement After Reacquisition

Members of IAM District 70 in Wichita have voted to pursue coverage under the IAM-Boeing Master Agreement, following Boeing's reacquisition of Spirit AeroSystems. The vote was held on September 12, 2026, with more than 30,000 IAM-represented Boeing workers in Washington state, California, and Oregon currently covered under the agreement through IAM District 751 and District W24.

The Wichita location was previously covered under the Master Agreement before Spirit AeroSystems was spun off from Boeing in 2005. IAM representatives have conducted 10 town hall meetings to explain the differences between the current IAM District 70/Spirit agreement and the IAM/Boeing Master Agreement, which expires in June 2027.

The IAM Union leadership believes Wichita members have a right to pursue coverage under the Master Agreement, and the full strength and resources of the IAM Union stand behind them. If Boeing refuses to include IAM District 70 in the agreement, the union will proceed through the grievance process and possibly to binding arbitration, which could take from six months to two years.
