Widespread Outages Hit Microsoft Cloud Services
Microsoft's cloud services experienced widespread outages on Monday, affecting users of Microsoft 365 and Outlook. The issues began around 10:15 a.m., according to Downdetector, with users reporting degraded functionality in various Exchange Online functionalities.
The Microsoft 365 Status account confirmed the issue and stated that they were reviewing service telemetry and diagnostic data to isolate the source of the problem. This was followed by an update at 12:48 p.m., when it became clear that the outage had peaked with 2,044 reports on Downdetector.
Outlook users were also affected, with a peak of 6,015 reports at 11:15 a.m. According to Downdetector, Microsoft wasn't the only company experiencing outages; OpenAI's ChatGPT service was also down, with 1,405 reports of outages at its peak around 12:15 p.m.
The outage caused disruptions for users across multiple subscription plans in ChatGPT Work. However, by 3:05 p.m., ChatGPT posted on X that it was running again, and the OpenAI website confirmed that all impacted services had fully recovered by 3:30 p.m.
