Widow Confronts Suspect in Microsoft Executive's Murder Trial
The trial of Mario Fernandez Saldana began in Florida with Kirsten Bridegan, the widow of slain Microsoft executive Jared Bridegan, taking the witness stand.
Prosecutors allege that Fernandez Saldana helped plan and finance the killing, while Henry Tenon is accused of being the gunman. Fernandez Saldana has pleaded not guilty, claiming that the state cannot prove he solicited or intended Bridegan's death.
Kirsten testified about the bitter custody conflict between Bridegan, his ex-wife Shanna Gardner-Fernandez, and Fernandez Saldana, which she described as 'absolutely no trust'. The families relied on texts and emails to communicate, with disputes over parenting time, medical expenses, schooling, and religious decisions.
Kirsten also recounted the final phone call between her and Jared, in which he was quiet after she said goodbye. This silence raised suspicions, but she didn't know anything was wrong until she began calling and driving towards Jacksonville Beach with her mother.
