Windows 11 8GB RAM Optimizations Won't Include Copilot+ Compatibility
Microsoft has been working on optimizing Windows 11 to run more efficiently on systems with 8GB of RAM. This effort aims to make the operating system usable for lower-end hardware configurations. However, there's a catch: even with these optimizations, Microsoft won't be bringing compatibility with Copilot+ features to 8GB RAM machines.
A leaked specification of Lenovo's IdeaPad Slim series laptops revealed that notebooks with 8GB of memory will still need double the amount (16GB) for Copilot+ capabilities. This means that even with the upcoming optimizations, users with lower-end hardware will not be able to take full advantage of AI features.
While this might seem like a limitation, it's worth noting that Microsoft has been prioritizing other improvements in Windows 11, such as making the Weather app more memory-efficient. In fact, the Dell XPS 13, which is a close rival to the MacBook Neo, can use up to 70% of its 8GB RAM without running any user-launched program.
