Microsoft has released two cumulative updates for Windows 11 to fix security vulnerabilities, bugs, and add new features. The updates are mandatory as they contain the September 2026 Patch Tuesday security patches for 1,000 vulnerabilities discovered in previous months.

The updates include a movable taskbar, which can be customized to match how users work and make better use of screen space. Users can now choose whether the taskbar appears at the bottom, top, left, or right side of their screen. Additionally, a smaller taskbar option is available to help maximize screen space on smaller devices.

The updates also improve the reliability of loading the system tray area of the taskbar for non-touch PCs and make the Start menu more personal with several customizations. Users can now choose between a small or large Start menu and hide their name and profile picture in Start by going to Settings > Personalize > Start.
