Windows 11 Emergency Update Released Amidst Widespread Patch Tuesday Issues
Microsoft has released an emergency update for Windows 11 to fix several issues caused by last week's Patch Tuesday update. The update, KB5129194, addresses a record 966 flaws, including two actively exploited zero-day vulnerabilities.
Last week's update fixed multiple vulnerabilities but introduced its own set of problems, such as unstable Remote Desktop Services and issues with certain USB audio devices. This week's patch fixes these issues and includes additional security updates.
The two zero-day exploits addressed last week include CVE-2026-81963, a flaw in the Windows Update Stack that allowed an attacker to gain System privileges, and CVE-2026-85880, a Windows Advanced Local Procedure Call (ALPC) vulnerability that also allowed attacks to gain System privileges.
