Windows 11 Gets Major Updates in Latest Release Preview Builds
Microsoft has released new builds for Windows 11 through its Release Preview Channel. The latest builds, version 24H2/25H2 and version 26H1, bring several notable changes to the operating system.
The most significant updates include a customizable Taskbar that can be placed on any screen side and resized, as well as a new Start menu with independent on/off toggles for Pinned, Recent, and All. The Windows Search feature has also been updated with a simpler home view and the option to choose whether it displays web and Store results.
In addition to these changes, Windows 11 now features updated progress indicators throughout the system, including during startup, sign-in, restart, shutdown, and update installs. Other minor updates include changes to File Explorer, Windows Share, Administrator protection, and various settings across multiple desktops, display settings, Task manager, Setup, Windows Update, and more.
