Windows 11 Receives Emergency Update to Fix High-Severity Stability Issues
Microsoft has released an emergency update for Windows 11, KB5129195, to address several high-severity stability issues introduced by September's Patch Tuesday. The update is mandatory and will roll out automatically through Windows Update, as well as be available for manual download.
The latest patch resolves a SYSTEM privilege flaw, known as CVE-2026-62721, which could allow local attackers to gain SYSTEM-level access. Additionally, it fixes Remote Desktop Services instability that caused RDP connections to fail after several minutes, sign-in issues, and servers hanging during setup.
Other bugs addressed by the update include a Hyper-V problem that broke folder sharing between host machines and Linux virtual environments using Plan9, as well as a multichannel USB Audio Class 1.0 issue that silenced 8-channel and 3D audio output.
