Windows 11 RGB Driver Issue Causes Game Crashes

Microsoft is investigating a compatibility issue in Windows 11 that causes certain games to freeze, crash, or generate access-violation errors on systems with RGB lighting drivers installed. The problem has been linked to the August 11, 2026 Windows security update, KB5121003, which was released for Windows 11 versions 24H2 and 25H2.

The issue affects games such as ARC Raiders, MARVEL Tōkon: Fighting Souls, and THE FINALS. Users may find that a game becomes unresponsive shortly after launch or closes without warning, displaying an EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION error.

Microsoft has not confirmed whether every system using RGB software is vulnerable to the failure, but reports suggest specific combinations of drivers, hardware components, and affected games may trigger the issue. The company recommends disabling the inpoutx64 driver through the Windows Registry as a temporary workaround.
