Windows 11 Speed Boost: Microsoft Admits to Sluggish Performance

Microsoft has finally acknowledged that Windows 11 needs to be faster and less ad-heavy. The company's senior engineer, Scott Hanselman, confirmed in a recent post that Windows 11 is getting a major performance boost this year.

This comes as no surprise, given the consistent complaints from users about Windows 11's sluggish performance on lower-end hardware and its tendency to show too many ads.

In March, Microsoft acknowledged these issues and promised a major update with faster File Explorer, reduced Copilot integration, and lower memory usage. Since then, several of those promises have shipped already, including the Low Latency Profile, which gives PCs a CPU boost when interacting with core shell elements.

However, Hanselman's recent post reveals that Microsoft is still working on making Windows 11 faster and more efficient. The company plans to optimize Windows 11 for 8GB RAM devices and above, and has already started rolling out UI redesigns using the WinUI framework, which will reduce memory usage.
