Windows 11 users have been waiting for years to regain control over their taskbar's placement, and that wait is almost over. Microsoft has finally added an option to move the taskbar to any side of the screen or even the top in the latest Windows 11 Insider Preview builds.

The new feature allows users to customize the taskbar's position by going to Settings > Personalization > Taskbar > Taskbar behaviors > Taskbar position. This change is expected to ship with the September Patch Tuesday update, but those in the Release Preview Channel can try it out now.

Additionally, the taskbar can be made smaller to maximize screen space on smaller devices. To do this, users can go to Settings > Personalization > Taskbar > Taskbar behaviors > Taskbar size and select 'Small'.
