Windows 11 Update Borks Mouse Cursors, Falsely Warns of Antivirus Issues
Microsoft's latest Windows update has introduced two major issues for users: a faulty mouse cursor customization system and false warnings from Microsoft Defender Antivirus.
The August 27 update caused some users' custom mouse cursors to revert back to their default settings, with high-DPI cursors replaced by larger white ones. Some reports suggest that uninstalling the update restored the previous cursor settings, but this is not an officially recommended solution.
Microsoft has confirmed a separate issue where Windows incorrectly claims that Microsoft Defender Antivirus is turned off when it is functioning normally. This false notification appears after recent updates to the antivirus software and persists even if notification settings are turned off.
The company has acknowledged both problems and is working on a resolution for the cursor issues, while promising another update to fix the Defender notifications.
