Microsoft has acknowledged that its recent KB5120998 update is causing issues with mouse-related settings in Windows 11. The update, released on August 27, affects users running Windows 11 24H2 and Windows 11 25H2. Those using high-DPI or animated mouse cursors are particularly affected.

The problems result in appearance regressions and intermittent animation changes, including the replacement of custom cursor animations with standard settings.

Microsoft is investigating the issue but has not provided a solution or workaround. Users who experience this problem can report it through the Feedback Hub app.
