Windows 11 Updates Now Bundled for Smoother Restart Experience

Microsoft has revamped how Windows 11 handles updates to reduce disruptions for users. With this change, drivers and firmware are now bundled together with monthly security patches.

This consolidation means that users will likely only need to restart their PC once a month during the regular Patch Tuesday cycle.

The update bundles started being rolled out at the end of July and have since been gradually expanded to all Windows 11 PCs, affecting versions 24H2, 25H2, and 26H1.

Microsoft says that this change is aimed at making updates more predictable with fewer interruptions, but notes that critical security fixes may still trigger immediate restarts when necessary.
