Windows 11 Users Can Finally Say No to OneDrive Prompts Forever
Microsoft has finally made it possible for users to dismiss OneDrive prompts permanently in Windows 11. Previously, users were forced to either skip or delay the installation of OneDrive every time they installed a new version of Windows.
The change allows users to opt out of further suggestions from OneDrive when prompted to 'Protect your files'. This will no longer appear on their screen, and they can continue using their preferred cloud backup service without interruptions.
OneDrive is integrated deeply into Windows 11, and the pop-ups could get annoying for users who already have a cloud backup service of choice. However, this change doesn't kill off OneDrive entirely; Microsoft has recently trialed a OneDrive Photos app that's designed to replace the existing Windows Photos app.
The new 'Opt out of backup selection' option is available in the latest version of Windows 11, 25H2. Users can click on it and choose not to be reminded about backing up their files again.
