Windows 11 Users Must Install Urgent Security Update Within Three Days

Microsoft has released the latest Windows 11 update, addressing over 400 security bugs and urging users to install it within three days. The August 2026 Patch Tuesday update is available for all supported products and includes patches for Entra, Office, Teams, and other Microsoft products.

The update fixes a record number of vulnerabilities, including at least 37 remote code execution bugs and five elevation-of-privilege bugs. It also addresses critical RCE flaws in Windows DNS Server, DHCP Server, and other core components.

Microsoft has warned against delaying these monthly updates, citing the rise of AI-accelerated debugging, which is speeding up how quickly software vulnerabilities are found and exploited. The company recommends deploying Windows updates within three days, setting deadlines for those updates to zero or one day, and the update grace period to a maximum of two days.

Users can verify if their installation received the 400+ security fixes by checking for updates in Settings > System > About. If it matches what Microsoft recommends, users are good to go. Otherwise, they should download and install the August 2026 Update, which shows up as KB5121003.
