Windows 11's Drag Tray File-Sharing Feature Pulled After User Feedback
Microsoft has removed its Drag Tray feature from Windows 11 after receiving user feedback. The feature, which allowed users to share files by dragging them into an app at the top of the screen, was initially rolled out to a small subset of Insiders several months ago.
The company says it's removing the experience in this build, but is continuing to explore improvements in file sharing and plans to release more information about a future replacement experience in a later update.
Some users had praised the feature for its ease of use, while others found it frustrating and annoying. The Drag Tray was intended as an alternative to the existing method of sharing files by right-clicking on a file and selecting 'share.'
