Wisconsin Man Dies After Years of Battling Rare Muscle Disease
James Szudzik, affectionately known as 'Sudz,' passed away on August 17, 2026, at his home in Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin. He was surrounded by his loving wife, Nancy, after a courageous battle with Inclusion Body Myositis (IBM).
Sudz grew up in Grand Rapids, Michigan, and attended St. Thomas Elementary School and Catholic Central High School before earning his Bachelor of Arts degree from Michigan State University.
He served in the United States Army after college and went on to work for Miller Brewing Company and several beer distributors, including Beer Capitol in Milwaukee. Sudz eventually made Wisconsin his home, where he retired with Nancy and enjoyed years with their beloved rescue dogs.
The family man was known for sharing his love of baseball with his nieces and nephews, taking them to games and creating memories that will last a lifetime.
