Wiz Inc. Pushes for Increased Funding Amid CISA Workforce Decline
Google's cloud security subsidiary Wiz Inc. has begun lobbying for increased funding to deploy agentless Advanced Cloud Protection tools, technology directly aligned with its commercial offerings.
The company, which moved from a startup vendor to a Google subsidiary, is pushing for more funding to the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) through Forward Global US Inc., a lobbying firm it engaged on August 28.
CISA's workforce has shrunk significantly, dropping from approximately 3,700 employees at the start of 2025 to between 2,200 and 2,600. The agency has issued directives requiring federal agencies to secure cloud environments, and Wiz is advocating for increased funding to support this effort.
The FY2026 DHS Appropriations Act included $2.6 billion for CISA, but the agency's shrinking workforce and mission raise concerns about its ability to meet growing cybersecurity demands. Meanwhile, federal cybersecurity standards are tightening, with the FY2026 National Defense Authorization Act requiring security requirements for AI systems on cloud infrastructure.
